Wells Constituency stretches from the Bristol Channel in the West to the A37 and Shepton Mallet in the East, and from Shipham and Ston Easton in the North to Street in the South. It therefore includes not just the City of Wells, but also the towns of Shepton Mallet, Glastonbury, Axbridge, Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge and the villages of Chilcompton, Street, Cheddar and Wedmore. Wells Constituency is within the Somerset County Council area. The East of the constituency (including Chilcompton, Shepton Mallet, Wells, Glastonbury and Street) is within the Mendip District Council boundaries. The West (including Cheddar, Axbridge, Wedmore, Highbridge and Burnham) is served by Sedgemoor District Council. Wells constituency is a target seat for the Liberal Democrats. After recent boundary changes, Wells constituency has taken in Stratton-on-the-Fosse but has lost the villages of Butleigh, Baltonborough and the Pennards.
Wells Constituency is covered by Somerset County Council. The East of the constituency (including Wells, Glasonbury and Street) is also covered by Mendip District Council, with the West (including Cheddar and Burnham) served by Sedgemoor District Council.
