Local MP Tessa Munt recently presented 'Promise' badges to members of the Cheddar Scouts group.
These badges reflect the work the Scouts have done in the preceding term, including representing their Troop at the Cheddar Remembrance Day parade and taking part in Troop activities such as formulating a Code of Conduct.
Before presenting the badges, Tessa spoke to the Scouts about her work in Somerset and Westminster, inviting the Scouts to come for a tour of Parliament so they could see how our democracy works. There was then a 'Question and Answer' session, with the Scouts enquiring about many different aspects of Tessa's work as a Member of Parliament.
Tessa said "I relish visits like these. The enthusiasm of the Scouts is inspirational; they asked some excellent questions and I suspect we have some future journalists amongst their number. The Scout and Girl Guide movements are an excellent way for young people to get involved within their communities whilst learning important lessons in teamwork and gaining practical skills."
